How Much Does A Prayer Weigh?

Louise Redden, a poorly dressed lady with a look of defeat on her face, walked into a grocery store. She approached the owner of the store in a most humble manner and asked if he would let her charge a few groceries. She softly explained that her husband was very ill and unable to work, they had seven children and they needed food.

John Longhouse, the grocer, scoffed at her and requested that she leave his store at once. Visualizing the family needs, she said: "Please, sir! I will bring you the money just as soon as I can." John told her he could not give her credit, since she did not have a charge account at his store.

Standing beside the counter was a customer who overheard the conversation between the two. The customer walked forward and told the grocer that he would stand good for whatever she needed for her family.

The grocer said in a very reluctant voice, "Do you have a grocery list?" Louise replied, "Yes sir." "O.K" he said, "Put your grocery list on the scales and whatever your grocery list weighs, I will give you that amount in groceries."

Louise, hesitated a moment with a bowed head, then she reached into her purse and took out a piece of paper and scribbled something on it. She then laid the piece of paper on the scale carefully with her head still bowed. The eyes of the grocer and the customer showed amazement when the scales went down and stayed down.

The grocer, staring at the scales, turned slowly to the customer and said begrudgingly, "I can't believe it." The customer smiled and the grocer started putting the groceries on the other side of the scales. The scale did not balance so he continued to put more and more groceries on them until the scales would hold no more. The grocer stood there in utter disgust.

Finally, he grabbed the piece of paper from the scales and looked at it with greater amazement. It was not a grocery list, it was a prayer, which said: "Dear Lord, you know my needs and I am leaving this in your hands."

The grocer gave her the groceries that he had gathered and stood in stunned silence. Louise thanked him and left the store. The other customer handed a fifty-dollar bill to the grocer and said; "It was worth every penny of it! Only God Knows how much a prayer weighs."

would like to share an earnest prayer request with you.

I HAVE A VERY DESPERATE NEED. I FELL AND WAS INVOLVED WITH PROSTITUTES FROM MAY TO NOVEMBER LAST YEAR, AND SOME MONTHS AGO I SUDDENLY REALISED THE SIN I WAS IN. IT WAS LIKE A DARK CLOUD PIERCED BY THE REALISATION THAT HOW COULD I BE INVOLVED IN SUCH A THING. I REALLY CRIED MY HEART TO THE LORD. BESIDES ALL THE CONDEMNATION IN MY HEART, I REALLY FEAR OF CONTRACTING AIDS/HIV. SOMETIMES I WAS SO FEARFUL THAT I ALMOST HAD A NERVOUS BREAKDOWN.

I REALLY REPENT OF MY SINS AND IT IS LIKE WAKING UP FROM A VERY BAD NIGHTMARE. I PLEADED WITH GOD TO FORGIVE ME AS I TURNED AWAY FROM SUCH SINFUL ACTS AND I ASKED THAT HE PROTECTS AND PRESERVED ME SO THAT I WILL NOT CONTRACT AIDS/HIV.

I REALLY REALLY REGRET AND CRIED TO HIM FOR HIS MERCY. WHENEVER I HEARD ABOUT AIDS/HIV CASES, I'M SO FEARFUL. I'LL BE GOING FOR A HIV CHECK-UP IN MAY 2005, AND PLEASE PLEAD TO GOD ON MY BEHALF FOR A CLEAN BILL AND COMPLETE PROTECTION AND DELIVERANCE. I~{!/~}M GOING FOR THE MAY CHECK-UP DUE TO THE WINDOW PERIOD OF 6 MONTHS. I REALLY REGRET WHAT I HAD GIVEN IN TO THE LUST OF MY FLESH AND THE SCHEME OF THE DEVIL.

Subject: Praise Report !!!

Dearest Intercessors,
I just obtained my medical report on my HIV/AIDS test and I was tested
negative!!! Today, I felt like I'm the happiest person on earth! The window
period is supposed to be six months, but I held on to six and a half months
before going for the test yesterday. Also, I used to have high cholesterol and
uric acid, but I'm declared cleared as well! Praise our Mighty God!

I really want to praise God for His goodness & mercy and giving me anotherchance in my life. Reflecting back on how He had sustained me each day over the past months with His Word and the prayers of some precious people, I'm determined to live a life which pleases Him and to obey Him in whatever He wants me to do.

I almost had a breakdown and committed suicide when I first fell into such sin. During the past six months, He touched me every time when I was in the church service, and I had never cried that much in my whole life before. He even gave me visions to encourage and strengthen me, as well as pouring His holy anointing oil into my hands. If it's not God, I'll never be alive now. I want to serve Him and please Him. I will hold dear to the precious lessons I had learned and will be much more compassionate towards and reach out to those who are in need.

Golden Altar, I really really want to thank you for upholding me in your
prayers. I'll never forget what you had done for me. No words will be enough
to express my gratitude.

May our good Lord continue to bless you, your family and your ministry team.
